Making Paleolythic Inspired Gifts

One day I figured I’d make some birthday gifts instead of falling for cliché and buying chocolates or alcohol. This seemingly simple idea soon became an obsession and opened up unexpected horizons.

Being inherently intrigued by Paleolithic history and the corresponding way human beings perceived the world around them at that time, it naturally followed that my gifts and the journey of creating them would be somehow related. Given that the recipients of my gifts were females, making jewelry was a straightforward choice.

The Denisova Cave finds included fine jewelry made from ostrich eggshell and other materials used for Paleo jewelry included mammoth ivory. Here, my near spiritual journey began.  A journey about mammoth ivory, ostrich egg shells, deer antlers and Turkish walnut.
